The Oakland Foundation has supported, and will continue to support, a number of good causes. A list of the projects which the Oakland Foundation has been or is involved with is listed below:
Aston Fields Middle School and Bonterre
The Foundation is pleased to be working with Aston Fields Middle School on an exciting educational project to increase children's self confidence, self esteem and build resilience.
The educational project is centred around “Bonterre”, which is a resource based at Top Barn in Worcester. As well as general horticultural experiences, (sowing, planning, harvesting and animal care), “Bonterre” offers the children wider experiences to help them develop decision making skills and build their confidence.
Redditch Food Bank
The Redditch Food Bank was launched in June 2013. The Food Bank coordinates collections of goods from donors and provides a central point for storage, picking activities and administration at the premises of Oakland International. The Food Bank provides access to an emergency supply of goods for those in need in Redditch. The Food Bank, operated by AOK under the national Food Bank charity Trussell’s Trust, works closely with referral agencies to support people to try and resolve a range of issues across the Borough.
Cllr Hartnett said: “The establishment of this Food Bank would not have been possible without the support of the Oakland Foundation. The Foundation has provided, free of charge, the use of their facilities for storing and sorting the food, and donations of food from Oakland International. They have our gratitude.”
Redditch YMCA Disability Football Club Sponsorship
The Redditch YMCA Disability football team was founded in August 2010 by Darren Veness and Craig Matthews, employees of Redditch YMCA. The team plays in the Birmingham Ability Counts League Midlands. The Oakland Foundation provided kit sponsorship for the club in 2014 and 2015.
The Oakland Foundation, along with key sponsor Oakland International, has previously supplied Redditch Nightstop with weekly chilled food parcels for young people who may be at risk of homelessness in the Redditch area.
Church Hill Middle School Scholarship
The Foundation helped by funding scholarships for two year 8 pupils at Church Hill Middle School. Church Hill Middle School Headteacher Mr Phil Hume, stated: “We are very pleased to be working in partnership with The Oakland Foundation. Our pupils will benefit from the opportunities provided through their support.”
