Oakland Foundation funding enabled Love4Life support 23 young people in Leicester’s Eyres Monsell community through 37 weekly group sessions and seven holiday activities.
The programme provided a safe, supportive environment where young people could build confidence, improve self-esteem and develop healthy relationships.
Through creative activities, open discussions and positive peer support, participants explored topics such as emotional wellbeing, online safety, healthy relationships and resilience.
The impact was significant:
- 23 young people supported
- 37 weekly group sessions delivered
- 7 enrichment holiday activities provided
- 79% made progress in confidence, self-esteem and healthy relationships
- 92% completed their programme of support
One Young Person’s Journey
One young person joined Love4Life after experiencing significant trauma and adversity during childhood. Struggling with low self-esteem, trust issues and difficult personal circumstances, attending the group initially felt overwhelming. However, with consistent support and encouragement, they continued to engage and gradually developed greater confidence, emotional resilience and self-awareness.
Over time, they learned to recognise unhealthy behaviours, build healthier relationships and make positive choices for their future. Despite facing personal loss and ongoing challenges, they remained determined, becoming a positive role model for others in the group.
Their journey demonstrates the life-changing impact that trusted support, positive relationships and a safe space can have, helping vulnerable young people overcome adversity, believe in themselves and look to the future with hope and confidence.
Lasting Impact
This Love4Life project shows how early intervention and sus tained emotional support can help young people build resilience, improve wellbeing and unlock potential.
