Thanks to HAF (Holiday Activity and Food) funding from the Oakland Foundation, PAL Fitness and Education’s camp at St. Peter’s School in Droitwich was a hive of activity during the May half term, packed with children having fun and learning new skills.
The HAF programme is a government-funded initiative that provides free holiday camp places for children eligible for free school meals, ensuring every child has access to nutritious food throughout the day, including both hot and cold meal options.
Mark Williams, Trustee and Grant Application Coordinator at the Oakland Foundation, commented: “It was great to catch up with the PAL team and to meet so many children enjoying the activities on offer. From swimming and crafting gifts to decorating paper bags for Father’s Day and even working with clay, the range of activities was fantastic.
“What a wonderful use of our support to ensure all children, irrespective of personal circumstances, could take part in such enriching experiences.”
The Oakland Foundation supports children under the age of 16 and their families through initiatives focused on education, health and nutrition, and sport. The charity’s aim is to ensure that all children, regardless of social background or physical ability, can participate and thrive.
PAL Fitness Education CIC Director Sue Bentley commented: “We were delighted to welcome the Oakland Foundation to our recent holiday provision, where children and young people had the opportunity to enjoy a range of enriching activities.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support they’ve provided, which has helped us offer subsidised places and ensure our provision is accessible to all children and families, regardless of their background.”
