The Oakland Foundation awarded Coalville CAN a grant to set up and run a pilot project called ‘Kids in Control’ with the pilot supporting children and young people aged 8-16 to set up and run their own clubs and beginning their journey using their own interests.
All planning and decision making will be made by the young people and targeted towards young people less well served by traditional activities focused on sport.
Said Oakland Foundation Grant Applications Co-ordinator Debbie Roberts: “During my visit I heard all about their plans and also plans for a Space Club as one of the young people has a passion for planets!”
